If I tell the Police what will happen?

The Police are responsible for investigating the crime committed against you. They will explain the procedures and answer any queries and concerns you may have. The sooner you report the crime, the greater chance the Police have of catching your attacker.

The evidence that the Police need will be in/on your body:

  • Don’t wash yourself or change your clothes.
  • If you are sick or need to urinate, try and collect a sample for the Police because this may contain traces of the drug. Make sure you ask the Police to give you a blood test and take a urine sample. Sometimes the Police may want to take a sample of your hair in order to detect traces of the drug for further evidence.

If you have not been able to go to the Police soon after the attack or collected samples, it is still important to report it, because there are ways that they may be able to find your attacker.
