Where do I go for help?
You could either
- Go to the police ( Devon and Cornwall Police 08452 777444)
- or speak to any professional person such as, a Rape Counsellor or a Doctor. If you are under the age of 18 they are not allowed to keep what you tell them a secret and they will have to pass it on to Social Services. They should always explain this to you and can also be there to support you through what happens next
If you are over the age of 18 no one can make you go to the police, it is up to you. You can have counselling and talk about your feelings, and discuss whether you want to go to the police. However if you don’t go to the police straight away, any vital evidence that is on/in your body may be lost.
